It can download video, audio, and images from more than 1,000 websites, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitch, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Bilibili, and many others. ClipSave is designed as a complete native Android application, not just a minimal interface around yt-dlp. It is completely free, MIT licensed, and includes: No advertisements No telemetry No tracking No account required No storage permission required on Android 10+ Main features Download from 1,000+ websites ClipSave uses a bundled yt-dlp engine, together with: ffmpeg for media processing and merging aria2c for accelerated transfers Metadata extraction for supported image posts Native Reddit handling through its public JSON API The app automatically detects popular platforms and displays their recognizable icons. Batch downloads Paste or share text containing multiple links and ClipSave will: Detect supported URLs Remove duplicate links Prepare multiple downloads Queue transfers safely Playlist support ClipSave can analyze playlists before downloading them. You can review: Titles Thumbnails Durations Media metadata Individual playlist entries You can then select only the items you want to download instead of downloading the entire playlist. Pause and resume Downloads can be paused and resumed while retaining yt-dlp partial files. ClipSave also attempts to recover resumable downloads after the application or download process is interrupted. Resource-aware queue To keep memory, CPU usage, battery consumption, and device temperature under control, ClipSave limits the number of simultaneous engine jobs. Downloads are queued predictably instead of launching an unlimited number of heavy processes. Live download details During transfers, ClipSave displays: Downloaded file size Total file size Download speed Completion percentage Estimated remaining time Video, audio, and image support ClipSave includes an in-app media viewer for: Video Audio Images Video and audio playback includes seeking and ten-second skip controls. Audio extraction supports embedded metadata and cover artwork. Subtitles and chapters The application can optionally embed subtitles using the device language, with English as a fallback. It also preserves available media details such as chapters and metadata. Share links directly to ClipSave You can share a link from almost any Android application directly to ClipSave. There is also an optional floating accessibility button that can be used while browsing applications such as Instagram, TikTok, and X. Network-aware downloads ClipSave includes an optional unmetered-only mode. When enabled, downloads wait on costly or metered connections and resume automatically when an eligible network becomes available. Private cookies import For media you are authorized to access, ClipSave supports importing a cookies.txt file. The file is stored privately inside the application and excluded from Android backups. Reliable file management The downloads manager supports: Search Filtering Pause and resume Retry Open Share Delete Clear history ClipSave also protects against duplicate transfers across pasted links, shared links, playlists, retries, and quick-download entry points. Files are saved through Android MediaStore, and sharing uses temporary secure content URI permissions. Android interface ClipSave is built with: Kotlin Jetpack Compose Material 3 It supports: Light mode Dark mode System theme Six saved accent colors Android 8.0 and newer The app follows a single-module architecture with manual dependency injection and no Hilt or KSP. Smaller ABI-specific APKs ClipSave produces separate APKs for: arm64-v8a armeabi-v7a x86_64 x86 This keeps each installation smaller because the APK only contains the native Python, ffmpeg, and aria2 stack required for the selected device architecture. Open-source contributors are welcome I would especially appreciate contributions in the following areas: Testing on different Android versions and device manufacturers Improving download reliability Fixing platform-specific extraction issues Jetpack Compose UI improvements Accessibility Translations Documentation Performance and battery optimization Unit and integration tests Playlist and batch-download improvements Repository: https://github.com/abdellatif-laghjaj/ClipSave Feedback, bug reports, feature suggestions, GitHub stars, and pull requests are welcome.
