Why I Crosspost Across Medium, Dev.to, DZone, and ZyVop (And How to Choose)

My take on “tech blogging” sites!

When it comes to sharing technical knowledge, tutorials, and insights, one platform is rarely enough. Every blogging network has its own community, culture, and quirks.

To make sure my content reaches as many developers, architects, and tech enthusiasts as possible, I regularly publish my posts across multiple platforms. Here is a quick breakdown of where I publish, along with the pros and cons of each—including a new favorite of mine!

Medium is one of the most recognized publishing platforms on the internet today.

  • Pros: Huge global reach, millions of active readers, and a rich diversity of topics ranging from deep technical architecture to soft skills.
  • Cons: Paywall restrictions. Non-paying users often hit the reading limit, which can prevent them from accessing complete, detailed technical tutorials.

2. Dev.to

Dev.to has built an incredible ecosystem specifically tailored for developers and software engineers.

  • Pros: Highly engaged developer community, completely open and free with no paywalls or reading limits, and excellent support for code formatting and Markdown.
  • Cons: Because it caters almost exclusively to software developers, non-engineering or high-level business technology topics don't always get the same traction.

3. DZone

DZone is a legacy favorite for enterprise software development and architectural insights.

  • Pros: High-quality articles with a strong focus on practical developer tips, enterprise trends, and architectural patterns.
  • Cons: Articles undergo a strict manual moderation process. While quality control is definitely a positive, the review queue can sometimes be so long that publishing gets delayed significantly.

4. ZyVop (My Latest Favorite! 🚀)

ZyVop is a newer platform I recently discovered, and it has quickly become a delight to use.

  • Pros: A clean, modern environment with near-daily platform enhancements and feature updates. Best of all, its seamless article import feature makes crossposting from other sites totally effortless. I've quickly grown to love this little gem!
  • Cons: As a growing platform, its reader base is still building compared to giants like Medium or Dev.to—which is all the more reason to help spread the word!

The Solution: Total Freedom for the Reader

Because I want to spread the word while giving everyone the freedom to read on their platform of choice, I syndicate my content across all four networks.

If you want a central hub where you can browse all my articles, project updates, and tutorials in one place—completely free of paywalls or queue delays—I built my own site:

Visit the site to pick the reading format and platform that works best for you!

Thanks for reading 🥸
