Vibe coding is incredible.
You can go from a blank screen to a working product in a weekend.
That’s the first 80%.
The final 20% is what quietly kills apps in production:
❌ Your agent loses context and repeats mistakes
❌ A new feature breaks something that already worked
❌ Technical debt compounds faster than you can see it
❌ Security and compliance get treated as “later”
❌ Nobody knows what failed, or how to fix it
AI gives you execution speed. It does not automatically give you engineering discipline.
To turn a prototype into software people can rely on, you need:
✅ A clear product and architecture spec
✅ Modular boundaries your agent can follow
✅ Tests and CI/CD that catch regressions
✅ Monitoring for when reality disagrees with the demo
✅ Security guardrails from the start
You do not need to become a senior engineer overnight. But you do need a system that keeps fast AI output from becoming expensive chaos.
I made a video on closing that gap.
