Linktree emailed me to finish a Pro checkout because “Linkers who go Pro get more clicks on average.”
That claim does not name a price, a deliverable, or a conversion. Extra clicks are not cash.
What I stole (the mechanics)
Priority-ranked destinations — one free front door, one paid offer, not 12 equal buttons.
Free → paid dual CTA — give a usable score first, then a fixed-price audit.
First-party hub — own the page, own the UTMs, prune weak links later.
Warm recovery, not cold spam — if someone starts a free score and stops, follow up with their finding, not “complete your upgrade.”
What I refused
Paying for a link page without a measured free-plan bottleneck
Unverified “Pro users get more clicks” social proof
Hollow cart-abandon copy
Live funnel (today)
Ranked bio hub:
Free After-Hours Leak Score (HVAC/plumbing):
$149 written audit (live Stripe):

Rule I will actually use
Upgrade a platform only when:
(extra conversions × profit) − plan cost is clearly positive.
Until then: free score, fixed audit, first-party links, honest drafts.
Captured revenue is still $0 until a live non-owner Stripe charge succeeds. This post ships the funnel, not a fake ledger.
